Chapter 2: Re-finding myself after being lost in Motherhood.

Ironically enough, given the title, I still struggle finding the motivation to do simple daily tasks such as getting dressed for the day. I'd rather lounge around in my pajamas because that's what I've done for the last year of my life, basically. Losing the motivation to simply get dressed is just the beginning of the slippery stay-at-home-mom-starter-pack slope. Brushed out hair? I don't even remember the last time I saw my hairbrush. Folded laundry? I'm sure I can find something somewhere in the mounds of clothes I have EVERYWHERE. This mindset is dangerous. It's not easy to get out of. As soon as you become comfortable in mess, you become the mess.

Because I had to learn how to navigate motherhood in early stages alone, I functioned on auto-pilot. Everyday chores turned into monthly occurrences. To this day I am, unfortunately, still off track. This is the side of motherhood they don't talk about. When your life becomes consumed by your children, your mind rarely leaves space for anything else to occupy. The reason why I haven't seen my hairbrush in 2 weeks (I wish I was kidding!). Maybe it has something to do with Postpartum hormones/emotions, but whatever it is, I know that it needs to go. Finding motivation that I used to obtain naturally is surreal. If the version of myself from 3 years ago saw me today, she'd be petrified, and honestly probably disgusted, too.

Why do we lose ourselves in motherhood? What makes us feel so isolated that we forget how to function as a normal human being? Ask me in a few years, hopefully I'll have an answer for you. Until then, we'll figure it out together. Or at least, sort of together. Hopefully my beautifully destructed path will help guide you along yours!
